Whispers of the Past
Whispers are akin to gentle shadows, much like a soft breeze. For art, especially the "whispers" embedded within artistic works, each individual carries deep-seated memories and emotions. Artists softly articulate their inner feelings through their creations, engaging us in a silent dialogue that transcends time and space, forging an invisible bond that allows time to crystallize in the present moment.

The narrative begins with modernist masters like Marc Chagall and Marie Laurencin, who created romantic and vibrant visions inspired by their cherished literary texts. It extends to the lyrical soliloquies of Fauvist master Georges Rouault, and the overseas Chinese artists Zao Wou-Ki and Ding Xiongquan. Their works evoke a poetic introspection, complemented by the still life pieces of Swedish modernist painter Einar Jolin, which resonate with an Eastern tranquility and poetic essence. Furthermore, we encounter the sincere depictions of life by the prominent Dutch expressionist Willem de Kooning, who captured the complex emotions of fear and hope that enveloped society in the aftermath of World War II.
In the face of these masterpieces created through various printmaking techniques, the distant stories of the past become tangible, allowing us to connect with them in profound ways. Each image bears the marks of history, as if reminding us to cherish the present moment.
